He harnesses the best of the East and the West effortlessly. At one point, you might find him nursing his favourite drink while reading his favourite prose or poem from English literature; your next visual of him could be of a quintessential Bengali in his pristine Dhoti with silk Kurta attire enjoying a hearty Bengali meal!
It is a treat to explore his world through his eyes and words because not many in his peer group can live life the way he does. He is an inspiration for those who not only retire from work but from life too!

From learning and understanding how to use a laptop, transitioning from dial-phone to smartphone, surfing the Web to owning a YouTube channel to daily record and upload his mouth organ renditions, octogenarian Shambhu Nath Bhattacharya epitomizes "eternal learner."
Hailing from an economically challenged background, Shambhu, the eldest of 7 siblings, left the security of home at the age of 14 to earn. He not only helped stabilize an impoverished family of ten including marrying off his 3 sisters but also created a beautiful and secured life for his wife and daughter. He continues to aspire, dream, and work towards providing the best for his grandkids.
This video was recorded when he first picked up the mouth organ after a gap of 40 years and after completing his tomotherapy cycles to treat stage-4 metastasis of prostrate cancer. He has been cancer-free for more than 4 years and regularly plays the mouth organ.
