A Mom's Musing

Mom, what's for snack today?

Mom, what's for snack today?

The everyday nagging question for me.

I have made your favourite ....!

(Poker-faced dismissal) Oh! ok.

(Perplexed me) Really? That's it?

It indeed is very daunting to have a child with sophisticated tastebuds that can be appeased only with novelty every single day! That too for someone who can single-handedly cook a 3-course meal from scratch from as early as the age of 9!

Every single day that I lived abroad, I had always craved for my mom's food. I used to feel that my motherhood will attain its pinnacle if my kids craved for my food! That is why I never kept a cook despite the man of the house insisting on it!

Now, with a child like this, the pinnacle seemed quite out of reach!!!!

This morning, I was feeling a bit under the weather, and I convinced my child for a pancake breakfast. As always, I added my love to the simplest recipe and served  her pancakes.

Mom, my pancakes do not smell half as nice as yours!

Wow! She just made my day!

Guess the hope of attaining the pinnacle stays intact 😍

P.S.

I do have another child who has a list of dishes she wants me to cook for her when she is home!
